I need Update query to update the Date column in a MySql table

i am using this Query to update the date in table

UPDATE table SET StartDate = '2011-20-04' WHERE MyID = 1 ;

But got this error message

Incorrect date value: '2011-20-04' for column 'StartDate' at row 1

can anyone pls help me????

The format should be yyyy-MM-dd ..... instead of yyyy-dd-MM

now it's executing fn....
