Avirus made files with extension .lnk, corrupted the files

Hello to all

my pc is hit by a virus, that created lot of files with extention .lnk, for example sample.xls.lnk, jpg.lnk, doc.lnk. My pc failed to boot thenafter , i used a recovery software,  and got the files, i noticed that many file extention is transformed to lnk, for example if i have a file user.xls, it becomes   user.xls.lnk   and file size is changed to 204 bytes. All  my documents and data files are corrupt, these with original names and thes that are changed to lnk, lot of my files are existing and same original sizes, but could not open. Please help me
