Tweaking Exchange 2010 and Server 2008 R2

Hello,

I am currently running a Exchange 2010 SP1 environment on a Server 2008 R2 64bit server.

I am receiving the following error and it seems we have a lot of latency. Outlook constantly freezes for a few minutes throughout the day for a few users.

A slow file IO operation was encountered on file 'logfile" for copy 'Database'. The observed latency was 7668 ms while performing a 'VerifyLog.Read'. This may indicate an overloaded system or a storage-related problem.

Event ID 2170, MSExchangeRepl

Are there any tweaks in the OS or Exchange we can do to help with the IO? Everything is a base install and no tweaks were done as of yet.

Thanks

Pls check the KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2155311 and see whether it is applicable. If yes, follow the KB.
Secondly follow the blog - http://blogs.technet.com/b/mikelag/archive/2010/01/11/perfwiz-for-exchange-2010.aspx to collect the pefwiz to check the performance of the disk as the event gets logged due to storage issue.

You need to add more ram to the server or upgrade your disks to faster spindles.

we just limited the amount of rpc connections a user can have to the exchange server as a temporary work around. this error is pointed to slow hardware or insufficient memory

what was the limit that you set for rpc connections a user can have to the exchange server?
and how did you set that up?

Thanks,
