From years ago, and brief use of Nero for my music,
I remember being told that the best quality would be burning at slower speeds.

I am wrapping up the last two DVD disc from a 10 pack that was purchased 6 years ago. They are 4x DVD+r.

Just glancing at media in the store, I saw alot of 16x.

16x can apply to:
1. the media itself.
2. the DVD burning hardware.
3. the DVD burning software.

Anyone got detail on this?

In the past it was always advisable to burn at slower speeds.  This was partly due to low quality hardware, low quality discs and before technological developments such as a write buffer.

You should never burn faster than the rating on the media.  If you are using *really* cheap media I'd be inclined to burn slower than the rating on the media (burn to cheap 16x discs at 12x for example).

Even the cheapest writers these days will include write buffers so you should be fine to burn as fast as it'll allow you to (but no faster than the rating of the discs).

Personally I use InfraRecorder.  I would not recommend Nero as it always seemed to create stability issues.  To be fair I haven't used it at all for ten years so it may have improved since then.  :)

I got, what some people say, is a top media brand, which is: Verbatim.

    They are 16x.
    Can I burn using 4x?

    My recorder is DVDflick.
