Doom II newbie questions

Hi guys - this is not a work question, it's a helping a friend out on a Sunday afternoon question that's driving me nuts. Can anyone point me in the direction of a PLAIN ENGLISH site which describes how to get Doom II working under Windows XP and more precisely how to get Game-Tek D-1000 extra levels working with it. I repeatedly see people saying that the "error 200" I am geting is because the computer is too fast - but no-one seems to provide an idiots, step-by-step guide to making it work!! Any suggestions welcomed. Cheers Ed.

You can always stick it in a vm but that's another topic.

fastest solution i used -- you can buy the whole series on Steam for next to nothing, and they have tweaked the files/set-up so it launches under XP/Vista & 7.

Alternatively, you would need to use something like DOSBOX for Windows, which will allow you to set it up in a proper environment.
