Crystal Reports 2008 automate using a list of parameters and export to Excel

I am using Crystal Reports 2008.  I have a list of Territories that are entered as a dynamic parameter. Each Territory has a list of Distributors that come up with the beautiful capability of the dynamic parameters.  I want to automate the report so it runs for a list of 25 territories.  That means setting the parameter 25 times to the new territory. Then I want to select all the distributors for that territory, run the report and export it to Excel.

I have looked over previous questions about automation tools for doing this.  I went to Ken Hamady's site and had no clue as to which tool would do what I want.  I looked at a php script by RQuadling which I would love to use.  I have no idea what php is and how I could use it.

Could someone point me in the right direction? Since I am using Crystal 2008, there is no longer differnt versions.  Do I have Crystal Server functionality?

    Accepted Solution

There is no real need to run the report 25 times.
What you are trying to do is called bursting.
Group the report on the territory field then
You can use Visual Cut and burst the report on the territory grouping.

There are other tools on Ken Hamady's site that can also burst a report
