Without macros, you can select the column(s), right click in the column header, and select Hide. To unhide, select the columns to the left and right of the hidden column(s), right-click in the header, and select Unhide.

You can also use Views. Set the column widths for the first view, select the menu command View->Custom Views, click Add, enter the name of the view and click OK. Repeat with the columns hidden. To select one view or the other, select the menu command View->Custom Views and double-click the desired view.

If using Excel 2007 or later, navigate to the View tab and click Custom Views. The rest is the same as 2003.
