I have an Exchange 2010 server and downloaded an SSL certificate for mail.example.com.
I have split DNS example.com for external and example.local for internal.
My CAS server internal url for activesync is setup for https://server.example.local/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml and my external url is https://server.example.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
I have setup my external DNS A record to point to my exchange server for the activesync and autodiscover names
When I run exchange connectivity remote analyzer tool i get

      ExRCA is testing Exchange ActiveSync.
       The Exchange ActiveSync test failed.

      Test Steps

Attempting the Autodiscover and Exchange ActiveSync test (if requested).
Testing of Autodiscover for Exchange ActiveSync failed.

      Test Steps

Attempting each method of contacting the Autodiscover service.
The Autodiscover service couldn't be contacted successfully by any method.

      Test Steps

Attempting to test potential Autodiscover URL https://example.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
Testing of this potential Autodiscover URL failed.

      Test Steps
Attempting to test potential Autodiscover URL https://autodiscover.example.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
Testing of this potential Autodiscover URL failed.

      Test Steps
Attempting to contact the Autodiscover service using the HTTP redirect method.
The attempt to contact Autodiscover using the HTTP Redirect method failed.

      Test Steps
Attempting to contact the Autodiscover service using the DNS SRV redirect method.
ExRCA failed to contact the Autodiscover service using the DNS SRV redirect method.

      Test Steps

Attempting to locate SRV record _autodiscover._tcp.example.com in DNS.
The Autodiscover SRV record wasn't found in DNS.

What is the issue here?  My cert I got from godaddy is for mail.example.com
Should this not work ok?

I followed the directions here
