Server Hardware

Hi

We are monitoring our HP servers through HP SIM ( system insight manager), in that we are getting one warning messgae on system critical temperature where it shows 207 degree as system temperature. Please help on fixing the bug in SIM, since practically 207 degree is not at all possible because the server is kept in data center.

if you are using HPDL380G5 or above or any prolient server, you can also try HP Proliant Intergrated Management tool.

one more thing if your HP Systems Insight Manager is 5.1 or older than 6, you can download latest from
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/management/hpsim/download.html

207 degrees farenheit is possible for an internal component (if it's failing or got some label blocking airflow over it), here's part of a report from a DL380 G6 (From Smartstart - diagnostics - insight diagnostics - inspect) Look at the thresholds, I/O zone is allowed to go past boilimg point.

NOTE this is my working server, not Sureshkumaar's one.

So you need to know what component/sensor it's talking about, it's not valid to say that because it's in a datacentre the internal temperature can't go that high. You can also see that the sensors aren't accurate over the whole range, my system board can't have been colder than the inlet temperature but the sensor says it was.
