Hello Experts,

We are running two Windows 2003 and one Windows 2008, total 3 domain controllers in our environment.  All are installed with DNS.

We would like to limit addresses that are allowed to do dynamic updates to DNS on Windows 2008, ideally to update only from the other two Windows 2003 domain controllers as opposed to all domain client computers.

I know this can be done by installing BIND DNS and configure allow-update string in the named.conf file.

However, is there a way to achieve this natively using WIndows DNS ???

Windows will allow any update for a secure (known client) by default, I have not heard of any reason not allow this, also all DNS zones if AD intergrated will replicate to all the servers in the forrest/domain depending on configuration so they sort of act like 1 server really, they just copy the updates arround so your solution may need to involve all servers not just 2...what is it you are trying to do exactly and why?
