Message Size Exchange 2007
Hi to all,
I've an Exchange server 2007 sp3.
My account should receive, a message of 30MB from Internet
Now I've read these articles:
http://exchangepedia.com/2007/09/exchange-server-2007-setting-message-size-limits.html
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb684892(EXCHG.80).aspx
but I not receive yet the mail of 30 MB, but I receive mail of 10 MB (default settings)
I've set the value 30720 Kb in Transport and Connectors (send and receive) properties, NOT in User Properties
I receive always mail with error "Message size limit exceed"
Thank for your help

Since you've placed in the SBS Zone, I'll assume you have SBS 2008 which includes Exchange 2007
The SBS Product Team Blog includes an excellent walk through on this

I haven't SBS.
I've a Domain controller server with 2008 R2 and other server with windows 2003 r2 and Exchange 2007 sp3.

while the artilce was from the SBS team (and your question is in the SBS zone) there is not SBS specific in the blog post. I'd encourage you to give it a look and see if there something you may have overlooked
ASKER
the original question was not in SBS zone, but only in Exchange zone.
I can see that it was placed in the SBS zone by a MOD..not sure why
But again, nothing in the link in my post is really unique to SBS...it will show you all the places where the message size must be changed

ASKER

very strange...now i've set :
MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageG roup : 0
MaxDumpsterTime : 0
in this way it's disabled
Before it was setted to default value (18MB and 7 days).
18MB email size are received, but 30MB email size aren't received....returns back always this error:
Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 552 552 Unable to queue message (5.3.4 Message size exceeds fixed maximum message size) (state 18).
Any suggestions ?

It's not the dumpster size...it's the receive connector or rather I should say...one of your receive connectors is still set to 10MB

yes, but that receive connector is disabled
ASKER
If the problem is the default connector, disabled (set to 10MB), why are received 18MB email size ?
ASKER
however, now I've set the default connector to 32MB and I've repeated the test....please wait...
ok...and I admit I don't do a lot with environments with multiple receive connectors or with some being disabled...looking forward to the results
ASKER
nothing...always same error ... :(
I do not know what to do or even imagine ... I cannot understand where is this limit for email >18MB ...

what are the results of running at the Exchange Shell:
Get-TransportConfig | ft MaxSendSize, MaxReceiveSize
also
Get-mailbox | ft Name, MaxSendSize, MaxReceiveSize

very very strange....email of 21MB are received....where is the problem ???
Again I would suggest running the other two commands to see if something is being blocked there

From the Exchange Management Shell
Get-TransportConfig | ft MaxSendSize, MaxReceiveSize
also
Get-mailbox | ft Name, MaxSendSize, MaxReceiveSize

Is your mail being handled by any third party service for anti spam or antivirus? In other words, your mail goes to another company first...gets scanned, then comes to you?
ASKER
NO. Mail flow is direct From ISP (I am using Google for the tests) to MyCompany. During the tests, the antispam and antivirus , for the mail flow, are temporarily disabled.
ASKER
It still not working.... :(
I think it's still the one receive connector that you have disabled...any reason it can't be deleted
or set the size to the same as the others
