What could be causing strange spacing between characters in Outlook

Hello Experts -
We have a user that is experiencing an issue with spacing between characters while using Outlook 2003.  The example below shows the issue:

 Jo h n,
T h e Picture Canyon Group is planning t h e big celebration of t h e restoration of PC – it’s on June 11, so you’ll h ave to plan to be t h ere – will send you a more decent invitation.

But t h ere is one person we want to invi te w h o I’m told you would h ave information on, w h o was a mover & s h aker in t h e early days of t h e effort:  Jim You gol t h o rpe (probably not t h e rig h t spelling).
Can you te ll me about h im and if you know h ow to get an invitation to h im?
T h anks,
Susie

Outlook is using Word as its editor.  Up to this point, we have reinstalled Office (twice), but the problem remains.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated

Regards,
Nick

Is this user John or Susie?  (I can't tell from your email if the error is ocurring on inbound email or when composing them)

If it's composing, when do these spaces appear, when writing the message or on the recipient end?

The user is Susie sending the message to John.  I believe that the issue occurs when the user types the message.  I'm trying to get hold of the user to confirm this.

The sender may be using Word to edit the message (it's a user option) and they may have "justify" turned on in their formatting template. It looks somewhat like that.

Respectfully, I don't think it's justification as that would space letters evenly.

True, but I still think it is worth checking. Normal justification (I have used that) will not cause any spacing.

ndalmolin_13 - You might want to try an Office Repair (Office Repair, Office Diagnostics) and see if that helps with your issue. ... Thinkpads_User.
