Cisco SFP Module clarification

Hi;

I am not a CISCO person but I have to supply soem items to a customer. I am not required to install them just be the middle man. I have had conversations with CISCO but would like some third party assistance confirming that these items numbers satisfy the customer request.

Item Number                   Requirement
SFP-10G-SR=                1000BASE SR SFP Module
GLC-T                             10GbE-BASE-T

I may have the order mixed up.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Ironman;

SOrry for the delay in responding

I am using a Catalyst 4506 Chassis with the following line cards WS-X4548-GB-RJ45 and WS-X4506-GB-T.

Grateful if you can assist urgently.

Overall requirements are

Ethernet Switch wit
24 X 10/100/1000BASETX
Ethernet
Uplink Port: 2x10GbE-BASE-T
Fibre Interface: 2x 1000BASE SR SFP Modules
4SFP Slots
Hello
Is the 4506 going to have more line cards installed? Otherwise you can't have 10Gb since the line card with SFP places (WS-X4506-GB-T) only works at 1Gbps

Hi;

You are helping more that you know.

In my initial conversation with Cisco these were all the line cards that they said I needed. If I need t have an additional card let me know.

Hi;

I have been doing some reading online and it seems that the SFP-10G-SR module can connect to a 1G Fibre connector

http://www.quickerbuy.com/products/sfp-10g-sr-cisco-compatible-1000base-sr-sfp-module-mmf-106717226

and from Ingram Micro:

10GBASE-SR SFP+ LC MMF F/CISCO 850NM 300M 100% COMPATIBLE
sku: BG3287  | partnumber: SFP-10G-SR-AO  | UpcNumber: 0821455018583  |  ACP-EP Memory
Category:  Network Devices  | Subcategory:  Switches & Hubs

Cisco SFP-10G-SR Compatible 10GBase-SR SFP+

ACP's industry-standard 10Gbase-SR SFP+ is a hot-swappable input/output device that plugs into a Gigabit Ethernet slot, linking the port with the fiber-optic network. ACP's transceivers (GBIC, SFP, XFP and XENPAK) are 100% compliant for all of our networking product lines. ACP transceivers are factory loaded with OEM specific configuration data required for networking compliance. These transceivers initialize and perform identically to the OEM transceivers and can be mixed and deployed with other OEM or 3rd party transceivers, for seamless network performance.

What do you think?
Hello
Yes it can connect, but the linecard do not support more than 1G so you can never get more than that.
What SFP to then of course depends on the installed fiber.

Back to the first question:

SFP-10G-SR=                1000BASE SR SFP Module
Cisco SFP-10G-SR
The Cisco 10GBASE-SR Module supports a link length of 26m on standard Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)-grade multimode fiber (MMF). Using 2000 MHz*km MMF (OM3), up to 300m link lengths are possible.

GLC-T                             10GbE-BASE-T
GLC-T IS NOT 10GbE-BASE-T!
 GLC-T is SFP connector for RJ45

So if I understand you correctly this is so that I can integrate the SFP with X4548 card. But it would mean that I would still need two 10GbE-BASE-T ports?

Is that correct? If so do you have a recommendation.
