asked on

document not printing in shared printer

Hello All,

I shared an HP laserjet 1020 over a LAN (winxp). Now for some reason when a peer pc prints to it the document appears queued (in both host and client PC) but it doesn't print at all. I noticed if i restarted the host pc the docs would print. Then later I noticed that if i just restarted the host's print spooler service the docs would print. But this isn't normal what could be wrong? Thank you.

Are the drivers installed on the client  PC's?

ok, Here's the weird thing. 2 pc's cannot print to the host while 2 other can. One of the 2 client PC's which can't print does have the 1020 driver installed.
ok i'll try reinstalling the drivers..
That is strange. if the PC's that dont have the drivers are printing, and the PC's that do have the drivers are not printing, try removing the drivers and then print? Strange.. but if it works then their is no problem.... LOL
Thanks Mr Jarrod. Apparently the new driver installer from the HP website was the culprit. This was causing the sharing problems. So I uninstalled it and used the old installer (good thing i have a copy). everything's now back to normal. Thank you for leading me to the right direction.
