Move all public folders on exchange 2007 to a new exchange 2007 server then decommision old server

:
Have moved 50% of mailboxes from old Exchange 2007 server  to a new exchange 2007 server.

Both servers are currently running (with a view to decommission the old server)

My public folders, outlook address book and busy information (in calendars) are not accessable from any users on the new exchange server. Users on the old server and OWA are able to access the Public folder store with out any issues.

We did enable replciation on the folders and I can see the public folder structure from the Admin tool in Exchange management.

Outlook clients receive the following when expanding public folders (Cannot expand the folder. Microsoft Exchange is currently busy. If this message is still displayed in 30 minutes, contact your exchange admin)

Downloading the address book we get the following error (Microsoft exchange reported error 0x80190194)

The only other item we changed in this process was the OWA certificate  -  http://www.shudnow.net/2007/08/10/outlook-2007-certificate-error/

Any help will be appreciated!

PS. we did also run the moveallreplicas.ps1 script   (source server=old server ,   newserver=new server

Have waited about 1 hour and still having the same issue

Am I missing something?

Hi,

Have you ensured that you are running all the latest service packs and updates for Exch 2007, i had this before and updating exchange fixed it.
Also for the outlook error look here..

Hi,
Public folder replication is a very slow process so this could take for hours or even days.

Have you installed some anti virus or anti spam software that blocks or filters SMTP traffic because public folder replications uses SMTP to replicate.

Otherwise enable logging on both servers and watch the event log what errors appear

Here is some information about PF replication troubleshooting: http://www.ditii.com/2008/01/10/exchange-server-2007-public-folder-replication-troubleshooting-part-4/

This is the error I get in outlook when accessing the public folders, the odd thing is that ah1 (does not exist, I assume it was an old exchange server before my time. Just dont understand why it works fine when mailboxes reside on old exchange 2007 server or when using OWA on the new server

Ronnypot,

Havent installed AV as yet - no firewall. All I did was follow the instructions on the following blog
http://www.shudnow.net/2007/08/10/outlook-2007-certificate-error/
on how to avoid receiving the certificate error for outlook

Go to you Exchange management console, server configuration, mailbox and do properties on your mailbox database then take a look at the Client Settings tab and see where the default public folder database is set to. This is probably pointing to a wrong database

To clarify why it works on the old server, the setting described above is a Mailboxe database setting so on the old server the setting is right.

I also notice failed messages in the exchange queue viewer

There is currently no route to the mailbox database

Excellent , ronnypot !!! thanks - I just couldnt find that functionallity , I did think it must be pointing incorrectly , just didnt know where to change it!,

Once other thing is the OAB still giving an error - any ideas?

Also when I selected the correct Public folder to assign to the mailbox , I can see an old public folder on a server that is non existent , how do I completely remove?

You probably mean a PF database from the also not existing AH1 server?

On your Adsiedit picture you see a record CN=AH1 if this is a server that doesn't exist anymore you should delete this record. Note do NOT remove the CN=Servers record on top of this.

so do I only delete CN=Ah1  or do I also delete CN= First Administrative Group

ronnypotCommented:
Just delete CN=AH1, NOT CN= First Administrative Group

cool - even though First Administrative group is no longer used?  (sorry to keep asking )

ronnypotCommented:
Yeah even if it is not used it can give some big trouble if you delete it.
I know it sound funny but please don't.
