Is it possible to create a VLAN using Cisco 1841 built in Ethernet port & a 4 port Cisco Etherswitch HWIC module?

We plan to upgrade our sonicwall firewall to HA failover which has ad additional standby device.
Currently the single sonicwall is connected to my Internet router (cisco 1841) using its built in ethernet port.
When i introduce the second standy sonicwall i will also need to conenct this to the router but
I don't want to add a switch.
My Idea is to add a 4 port switch module to the cisco & then create a VLAN to include the 4 switch ports & built in ethernet port.
Does any one know if is possible & will work?

No, it is not possible; you can not add the built-in ethernet port to a vlan, it is a fixed layer 3 interface.

Thanks for answer Billy.

If i just add the 4 port switch module & create a VLAN just using its ports. Am I right in thinking
I can move the IP from the current onboard to the vlan & do it that way instead?

Yes, you can create a vlan interface and move the IP over.
