How to enable viewing videos on BlackBerry Devices
BlackBerry devices running off BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express version 5.0.2.29 get message "The media being played is of an unsupported format" when trying to view any video e.g. browser > website > video news links. How do you configure the policy for the group in the BlackBerry Administration Service or on the device itself to allow viewing any/all videos.

We are using the default Browser settings. No MDS-CS. Is there a specific media content rule option that can be enabled or disabled by policy in the BlackBerry Administration Service software?
We have BlackBerry Bold's (9650) and Flip style (9670).
We are tied to Exchange 2003 and using AD to create accounts then assign a policy. We can change the policy for video capability if possible.

Hi,
There are several different Browsers on the device - BlackBerry Browser (goes via BES/MDS), Internet Browser and Hotspot browser.

RobMobility.

Tried on the device > Advanced settings > Browser > changed the Default browser configuration to "Internet Browser" and changed the Default MDS browser configuration to "Internet Browser. Received same message "The media being played is of an unsupported format.
Hi,
Which website and what is the format of the video links? The device may not have a suitable media player present to view the videos?

Checking further into video link formats as suggested by RobMobility...found this information:
i.e., www.wbay.com > videos (it does say H.264 compatibility required).
i.e., www.wfrv.com says: Adobe Flash Player is not available from Adobe.com for your device's operating system or browser.
We were able to view a youtube video.
So, is it fair to say that if you are not able to open a video your device is not equipped for that format and you are just out of luck? Can you push H.264 to the devices and is it common that Adobe Flash is not available for Smartphones?

Confirmed, Youtube is the only format currently supported by BlackBerry Bold's (9650) and Flip style (9670).
Is the device configured to use the Internet Browser or the BlackBerry browser, via MDS-CS? Do you have any media content rules that prevent Video?
Please provide a little more information about your environment - i.e. Exchaneg version, BlackBerry devices in use, whether MDS-CS is being used etc.

RobMobility.
