I got blank page using plink, proxy and firefox on new win7 ?
I just installed win7 pro, I would like use proxy in firefox.
Before when I use win xp , everything working.
I use cmd run plink to get my server and setup proxy in firefox,
It looks plink working, I got blank page for all sites, even use ip address in firefox.
When I stop plink, it will give me proxy error.
Why like that? please help. Thanks
Also I disable ipv6, it looks no change.
Anything change on win7? I need do something on firwall or ...?
plink line : plink root@serveraddress -D 127.0.0.1:8088
Thank you

Boot the computer in safe mode with networking and then check.

Do you have a third machine?
What you could do is run plink on your windows 7 machine, but let it not listen to 127.0.0.1, but to an external interface.
Then you could try to run a browser on another machine, which tries to use the plink proxy.
Then you yould start wireshark (network packet sniffer) either on the windows 7 host or on your third machine to see exactly what packets are sent to the proxy created by plink.
As far as I know wireshark is not capable to listen on localhost.
Thus my suggestion to involve a third PC.

Anyone success do this, plink - firefox proxy working on win7?
plink provides ONLY socks proxy
mentioning other proxies arebetween useless and grave mistake.

gheist, I agree with you.
I was also puzzled how a socks proxy should act as http proxy, but thought, there is just something I don't understand.

Do you have the same Firefox configuration and proxy settings on the host, that is working with plink?

What can i suggest - if you get angry enough do a warranty return....
Or better for your own nerves try to follow our suggestions CAREFULLY.
Firefox proxy configuration is not significantly different from IE one.
