Converted SBS 2008 to Virtual machine now websites dont work

I converted an SBS 2008 install that works perfectly into a virtual machine as we are moving sites. The plan was to use the virtual machinewhile we setup things on the new site that way websites & e-mails don't go down. However after powering up the VM all the sites display 403 forbbidden and OWA just times out.

Please help

Is the IIS service running?

if you run the IIS Management console, does it state started or stoppd?
What was the conversion process you followed? You may want to refer to http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/VMWare/A_3639-VMware-vConverter-P2V-for-Windows-Servers.html for converting Windows servers. It is written by a fellow expert, Bestway, and covers much of what you need to know for a succesful Windows Server conversion.

Good Luck

yeah IIS is running without any apparent problems. I've tried restarting the service and the server :-(

I'll have a look at the link provided. I used the conversion wizard
