We just installed XenApp 6.0 on windows server 2008 r2.  We are getting "Citrix Xenapp cannot contact the license server empty" when trying to connect via the citrix quicklaunch.  We get to the sign in screen on Citrix, enter user info and when we hit the login button we get the message.  I have modified the Farm policy to include the Citrix Licensing Server name and Port 27000.  Any help would be appreciated.

Did you download the license and upload under my files? You should be able to see start up license and xenapp license when you open license management console.

Known issue and bug.  Wait until this Friday the 13th and see what becomes available for download on MyCitrix.com! :)  Don't ask, I can't tell.

Can you let me know when this will become available today so that I don't have to keep checking on it? Thanks.

Fill in the form and get your FREE NFR key NOW!

Veeam is happy to provide a FREE NFR server license to certified engineers, trainers, and bloggers.  It allows for the non‑production use of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. This license is valid for five workstations and two servers.

Alright, past that error, now I can only connect via using my browser.  The online plugin won't connect.  First things first.  When I connect via the web browser, I am able to browse the folders that hold my applications, but when I click on an application I get an error "An error occurred while trying to access the requested resource."  Is it really this hard to setup xenapp 6 on a windows 2008 r2 box???

Nope, it is quite simple.  I just haven't had the time to write one of my step-by-step guides to it yet.

installed xenapp 6.0 - Check
Web access - Check
online plugin - not working

We are past the install, now I think it is possibly port settings or Windows settings???  When i go to connect using the online plugin I get cannot find server, yet I can find it via ie?

Online plug-in needs a XenApp services site, not the regular web interface site you access via IE.

Found this error under the event viewer.

This computer running Citrix XenApp will now stop accepting connections. This server is no longer in or could not enter a licensing grace period.

Did you set your license server in your unfiltered computer policy?

From your XA6 server, can you ping the license server by both NetBIOS name and FQDN?  Can you Telnet to tcp port 27000?

I am out of ideas.  I just rebuilt my 3 server XenApp 6 lab farm on Saturday and had zero issues.

I upgraded to the new 11.9 license server.  My license server is my domain controller.  I have a separate CSG/WI server, 1 XenApp 5 server, 3 XenApp 6 servers and a separate SQL server for all the databases.

Does the license server need to be on a different server than the Xenapp?

Does not have to be but since I run 4 products that require access to the license server, I put my license server on a different server.  That way I do not have to power on my XenApp 6 server so the other 3 components can work.  In my articles and book, I always have the license server on the xenapp server.  But that is just for a simple lab setup for testing.  I would not recommend putting the license server on a production xenapp server.

Did you also set the product edition in the computer unfiltered policy?

these are all set, but I continue to get the "citrix online plug-in could not contact the server entered.  This may be because the server is down, there is an error in the configuration file from the server, or the details entered are incorrect."  And like the previous [posts, I can ping and access the citrix from my IE, just not from the on-line plugin (12.1).

Carl, what version of windows server were you using when you set up your test farm over the weekend. We are using 2008 r2 with xenapp 6 and it seems we get something working for a little while and not change anything and it suddenly stops working. I'm wondering if 2008 r2 and xenapp 6 are having conflicting issues and we need to revert back to just windows server 2008.

XenApp 6 running on Server 2008 R2 SP1.  XenApp 6 will only run on 2008 R2.
