Looking for someone VERY familar with MS OneNote to pose questions to.

I am fairly sure Microsoft OneNote will accomplish what I need in an application. However, before I purchase training material on OneNote I would like to ask a present OneNote expert some questions regarding capability. If you are a OneNote expert please respond. I have several questions and will start a new question at 500 points each time. Or, can someone recommend an inexpensive consulting service to help me out?

Hi,

Have you had a look at what's available at Microsoft? Microsoft Office OneNote training

Is is more of an organizer than anything else (NOT an database management system)...

I use it for organizing stuff at home. The hierarchy is:

GROUP (contains Sections)

Section (contains Section Groups and Pages)
Section Group (contains Pages)

Page (contains Sub-pages)

Hello Paulsuave,
If I have ONE group and 14 sections, can  I password protect the Group and everything under it? I mean without going and unlocking every section. I also need to be able to search all 14 at one time. RE:Microsoft training, I have not seen it but I don't want to spend time learning it if it isn't going to do what I need to do. It "seems" like a super program though.

I had a quick look and it seems that password protection is at the section level, not the group level. But, it you save a group to a non shared folder, then only the owner of the folder can access it.

RE:Microsoft training You could have a look at the overview to see if it at least meets some of your initial requirements, you don't have to read the whole thing.

As I mentioned, I use it at home and when I want to share a group, I place it in Users/Public/Documents, otherwise, I place the group in Users/"My user"/Documents
