Missing breadcrumbs on one subsite

I'm running SharePoint Foundation 2010 on Small Business Server 2008. Our companyweb site is comprised of a bunch of subsites rather than bunch of pages so I get a nice drop-down menu system for the entire site as explained in Easy and Simple SharePoint 2010 Dropdown Navigation bar . I also have added breadcrumb navigation to the v4.master page of each sub-site, just after the PlaceHolderPageDescription ID:

<asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="PlaceHolderGlobalNavigationSiteMap2" runat="server">
  <asp:SiteMapPath SiteMapProvider="SPSiteMapProvider" id="GlobalNavigationSiteMap" RenderCurrentNodeAsLink="true" SkipLinkText="" NodeStyle-CssClass="ms-sitemapdirectional" runat="server"/>
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>

Open in new window

The breadcrumbs display on all the sub-sites except one, see the attached images. They do display on that site in SharePoint Designer, but they don't show in a browser. It's not a display=none issue, when I examine the page source the breadcrumbs just aren't there. Why can't I get these breadcrumbs?

Can you check to see if they both use the same CSS files?

Yes, they are using the same CSS.

I found the problem. I have SharePoint Foundation Server 2010 Master Page Selector instaqalled Under Site Actions | Site Settings | Look and Feel | Master Page Picker i had to apply v4.master to the current web. Even though some of the changes I made to v4.master in SharePoint designer had appeared on the site. Ugh.

I thought I'd write this up for anyone who has a request to create an anonymous whistle-blower-type submission form created using SharePoint 2010 (this would probably work the same for 2013). It's not 100% fool-proof but it's as close as you can get…
