Is it possible to alert in Outlook 2007 when a Room Resource is already scheduled to be used?
I've configured one of our conference rooms as a Room resource in Exchange 2007. Someone can create a meeting request and select it to be used during their meeting. If there is no conflict in scheduling, they get the ACCEPTED: email from the Room's mailbox. If there is a scheduling conflict and someone has already reserved the room, they get the DENIED email from the Room's mailbox and a description of which meeting is conflicting with theirs.
My question is, is it possible to just ALERT the user when they are creating the Meeting Request in Outlook, before the meeting is scheduled? I would like for them to select the Room resource in outlook, and when they try to send they get a error saying the Room is already in use at this time and to choose another (or communicate with original meeting organizer). This way they can either change their meeting time or choose another room.
Is this possible? Thank you!

Its probably not possible. You may want to adjust the description specifying the restrictions. I think the actually check on permissions happens when they go to save their request. Otherwise they are just viewing. maybe restricting even more and removing view only rights.
Yes it is possible.
1. Give yourself full Permission on the Resource Mailbox, configure it as a Outlook Profile
(in your login, it would not ask for credentials as you have full permission)
2. Then go to Tools-Options-Calendar options and click resource scheduling.
3. Then select the first 2 options
Automatically accept meeting requests and process cancellations
Automatically decline conflicting meeting request
This will give a alert only while you are using Outlook but not from OWA

Ok wierd, the first meeting I tried to conflict worked... Now I'm trying to do another one to test for my training email and it isn't working. I can schedule two meetings at the exact same time in the exact same conference room. Any ideas?
Did you change the setting correctly on the new Mailbox.
Also you need to make some settings using the OWA console of the Resource Mailbox. The resource setting option is only available if you are creating a resource Mailbox. Make sure you made the settings correctly there.
