SQL 2008 Lock Escalation

We have a table with 30,000,000 rows that periodically gets a mass-insert of 500,000 rows.

From what I can tell from the behavior is that a table lock is occurring on this table during the insert.

Is there a way to tell for sure if this is happening?

Thanks,
Dean

1) SQL Profiler can help you find out locks on the database
2)http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms188246.aspx.
