Start and Stop services on a server remotely without admin privileges.

How do I allow end users start and stop services on a server without providing admin privileges? I have tried PSService, but this requires admin rights on the server.

Create a scheduled task that restarts the service using admin rights, then you can give users rights to run the scheduled task

or look at permissions referenced here

On the users desktop you can create a shortcut with

schtasks /run /s <machine name> /tn <task name>

Running the task is not where the access is denied. It is the remote users ability to start and stop the task.

Yes, I was aware of that.

That is why you need to modify permissions of cmd.exe on the remote

The users group has read and execute by default. Which includes domain users. cmd.exe properties cmd.exe properties
