Using Avery paper on LTO tapes is fine?

Is this fine to print LTO 3 tape labels using regular Avery labels rather then ordering them online from pros? Thanks.

Interesting Question!

Are we talking about bar-code labels along the spine?

The main issue is adhesion. If the label comes off and gets lodged in the drive - or an autoloader/library mechanism - you could conceivably do some damage.

Not saying using the Avery labels is a bad idea, just make sure they stick as well as the dedicated ones.

There's even an app to do it - http://tapelabels.librelogiciel.com/ , personally I'd rather have pre-made labels because their shiny surface doesn't get dirty, quite frankly I'd rather buy tapes with the labels already stuck on because that's a fiddly job.

@TapeDude Nope, not along the spine. If that were so, I would have asked WebMD, they might a slight bit more helpful. Note saying your not an expert with the spine, not all. : / .

Ok, it doesnt seem to dangerous, and pretty cost effective rather than purchasing premade labels at $20 sheets with purchase of 5 minimum.

@andyalder, yeah, I wish I could automate the process much more, so I wouldnt have to be ordering pickups, placing stickers or taking inventory. Ill look into it, work smart not hard. ; )

Thanks
