I had a client today with a 6 year old Acer laptop. Her power button light was orange. It was not blinking, just orange. She said it didn't use to be like that, she said it used to always be green.

Any ideas about this will be appreciated.

Can you tell does she use a battery pack in her laptop or she uses it with plugged power at all times?

Because I remember that orange LED was referring to a battery low problem. not anything serious.
After 6 years, her battery should be totaly dead by now.

try removing the battery from the device and using it.
also if possible use a new battery for it, just to be sure.

if you want I can give you some advices on battery repairs.

Thank you I believe you are correct. She said she does not use battery or that battery is unreliable.
