What is the recommended way to install Windows Server 2008 R2 / Exchange 2010 wSP1

Hello Experts,

Whats is the recommended way / best option according to your experience for installing the following:

1) Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise
 
- - -> Install from the media kit & later on apply service pack 1 manually through windows update ?

- - -> Install from the service pack 1 integrated iso downloadable from Microsoft volume licensing center ?

2) Exchange 2010 Standard / Enterprise

- - -> Install from the media kit & later on apply service pack 1 manually ?

- - - > Install from the service pack 1 integrated iso downloadable from Microsoft volume licensing center ?

Install straight from the SP1 source, then you don't have to worry about the additional time needed for installing SP1 and it not being able to apply for whatever reason.

For windows sp1, if you install it beside other updates. it may cause a problem which prevent windows from booting up. so if necessery, install it alone then restart server then install other updates. other wise, I recommend as above.
