sharepoint 2007 blueband master page how to edit left and right webpart zones

blueband masterpage
the page layout by default has two zones
left and right.
what page this is? is says default.aspx but when i open default.aspx in SPD. It does not look like it. i want to be able to edit the space between the left and right web part zones but cannot find what page layout the blueband master page is calling.

    Master Pages live in the Master Page Gallery, which is a different location in the site.
