How many users logged in/ logged off script

Without having to spend lots of money on a network monitoring program that will do this for me.. is it possible to do a good vbscript that would atleast provide me results of how many users are logging onto a internal network each day? I know I can go to each machine on the domain and look at the event logs (tedious though) but it would be nice to have something automated.

    Yes, you can have a logon script that writes the username and timestamp to a log file on a network share.  you can also have it parse the log file to see if the user already logged in that day.
