Cannot send external email in exchange 2007

I have exhange 2007 with exchange 2003. I currently can do the following:
send Email between 07 and 03.
send Email externally from 03.
Recieve email to 03 and 07 and between 07 to 03.
cannot send email to external from 07.

I created the send connector for the internet with the following:
smpt * 1
DNS mx record checked
Source server is 07 server

There is also a second send connector with the following:
smtp * 1
dns mx record checked
source server is exchange 03 server.

I originally had this problem and went into exchange 03 and under the smpt virtual server under authentication i checked integrated windows authentication and alll of a sudden all of the 07 emails that were queued went out. After that original send i have not been able to send anymore. I have changed nothing since then except for removing the domain name in front of user name during the owa log in.
Any suggestions?
btw i am running this on a 2008 r2 server in an server 2003 domain.

I would suggest you to create & configure send connector on exchange 2007 server to forward mails to outside world.

You can delete the Exchange 2003 SMTP connector and create the Send connector in exchange 2007

What will happens is
--When exchange 2007 user will send mail to internet it will go via Exchange 2007 send connector to External World
--When exchange 2003 user will send mail it will first delived to exchange 2007 and then exchange 2007 will forward internet mails to Outside world

Hope this helps.

Ok...man...somethings should just jump out at me but after all these years i forgot to look at the simple stuff. When i couldnt telnet it made me think i was being blocked some where. It then dawned on me that i had not configured the firewall to allow outgoing smtp on the new 07 server. Ill give 300 points for helping me think this thru.
Thanks!
Was not the full reason but helped me think thru the problem.
Thanks for the update and points ,

I'm sorry, My mistake is i thought when you have posted the Question in experts-exchange then you have already checked the basic stuff like firewall, configring send connectors
