New Exchange 2010 server will not receive mail

Hello,
I think I setup a receive connector on my new Exchange 2010 server, but it will not receive messages. I sent my account an email from gmail, and I received the following message:

The error that the other server returned was: 530 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated (state 13).

I have only done this once, and it was a couple years ago. How do I setup a receive connector on Exchange 2010 so that I can receive incoming messages? When i setup the exchnage server, I accepted the default, and all features are installed on one server.

Thanks,
John

How does the HUB server route the external mails(inbound and outbound) directly or through Edge Server or any other 3rd party Smart Host.

If you are using the Smart Host then you need to create a new Receive Connector for Relay and add the IP of the Smart Host in the new Receive connector

The below links should help you to create the new receive connector
