Asterisk Beep Detection

I am using Asterisk 1.6.2.9

I am using AMD in my dialplan.  When AMD returns machine, it does not mean that the call is ready to start playing the sound files for the Answer Machine left message.  What I need to do is wait for the beep, and then start playing the files.  How can I do that?

Thanks,
Larry

After the detection you need to throw in at least one WaitForSilence.

You are not looking for the beep specifically but for the silence after the message has played and the beep has finished.  It may work better to do two wait periods.  The first waits for the end of the message played and the second for the beep to finish.  Sometimes there is a bit of silence between the end of the message and the beep.

In most cases voicemail/answering machines have a decent timeout period before they hang up.  So waiting for a few seconds of silence is not a problem.

Here's a couple reference links if you need them,
