I have a 3rd party software program that I call using SSIS. I'm moving my SSIS to another server. Can I still call the 3rd party software program from a different server using a Command Line Executable?

What if any issues do I need to be concerned about  if it can be called from another server?

Purely depends upon the way SSIS takes input from the 3rd party program.
You can reference / call the 3rd party program provided that

    1. SSIS package contains complete information about the third party program.
    2. SSIS package supports 3rd party program from other machines.
    3. Security accounts/ credentials are properly catched from Package to call the 3rd party program.

Is it best to have program on same server as SSI S?

    Accepted Solution

Yes, ideally it is recommended so that SSIS packages can work effectively.
If your 3rd party program and SSIS are configured to work from separate machines, then you can try that but keeping both of them in a single machine would perform better.
