ASM Disks

hi,
we created 4 asm disks on node1, and scans on other node,

but one disk is not showing on node2, remaining 3 are available but 4th one is missing.

node 1:
/etc/init.d/oracleasm listdisks
DATA1
DATA2
DATA3
DATA4

on node2:
/etc/init.d/oracleasm listdisks
DATA1
DATA2
DATA3

can any one help me?

MrNedCommented:
Have you checked the disk permissions, make sure oracle user can access them?

oracle has all permissions.

i have one more question.

oracleasm listdisk:
DATA

how can we find out the mount point (like /dev/sda1) for that DATA?

mrjoltcolaCommented:
Check the LUN / device mapping in the storage subsystem.

Usual cause of this is having a disk mapped to one node and not the other.

Could also be that the mountpoint for the "missing" disk is different on that node and the asm_diskstring isn't set to scan it.

MrNedCommented:
Connect to the ASM instance and run:

select * from v$asm_disk

i want to know what raw disk partition are used for making ASM disks...

I would go ahead and do that so you can at least create an ASM instance and run queries as suggested.

Otherwise, you can try looking at /etc/oracle-disks

Or look at the boot log (dmesg on Linux) to see which devices were scanned.
