Dont know password but machine auto logs in Mac 10.5.8

Mac 10.5.8 Machine auto logs in with the administrator account. If I try to change anything, it asks for the password. I do not know the pwd. So how do I see this or change it?

In windows, it would be stored in clear text in the registry. I am not very familiar with MACS.

So can someone help me out? I found this online

1.Boot into single user mode (press Command-S at power on)
2.Type fsck -fy
3.Type mount -uw /
4.Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist
5.Type dscl . -passwd /Users/username password, replacing username with the targeted user and password with the desired password.
6.Reboot

My user name is SSC County Admin. If the above is correct, would I have to quote the username in the above string? single or double quotes. Oh my. I feel so inadequate right now. lol

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Double quote "should" take care of it. If not, try \ before each space. You may also find that the user short name is  ssccountyadmin Try that username without spaces.
