Hi all,

I need to know how to setup an Email notification everytime the Windows 2008 restart itself ?

i know one of the way is to go to Event view log and setup a scheduled job there to send an email, but that will not cover all the cases where the server might reboot itself.

Everytime a Windows starts it generates a System event. In windows 2008 is number 6005 with Eventlog as the source.

If you filter your System event logs using the event number id, you can rigth clik on the event and use the "Attach task to this event" option, and follow the wizard, using as an action the option for mail sending

that is what i said above , and i agree with this method, my idea is trying to setup all scheduled tasks to cover all types of restarts, which including : unplanned or planned , or someone suddently pulling of the power cable, or motherboard faulty,...all these kind of restarts will have to send me an email no mater what restart it was.
my question is still :
Event ID : 6008 , log:System, source:EventLog: server reboot unplanned
Event ID: 6005,log:System, source:EventLog : as you said above, server restarted.
Event ID : 1074, source: USERS32,Log: System : this also means a server restart event.
what else(Event ID) i need to schedule ? am i missing any Event ID ?
