General Shopping Cart Question

Hi Experts,

Just a quick general question.

Currently I'm working on a clothing store website and I want the website to have the shopping cart feature and I'm not too sure on how to go about achieving this feature. I was hoping someone out there could give me some hints and point me in the right direction. I've looked into PayPal and other services on the net but I'm unsure how these services keep track of each item I have posted up on the website and if I can or can't check which order has been placed.

I hope I'm being clear with my question.

Thanks in advance,

Paypal provides payment related solutions but you want complete cart solution then go for oscommerce or magento commerce (community edition) which are free.

You can also look at YAHOO Store OR Google Shopping features to sell it online.
