I have a Brother 8480dn set up as a network printer with a static IP address.  I have three users that are using this printer through the network.

Users encounter:
1: User 1 has new PC running Windows 7 and has no problems connecting at all to print or scan
2: User 2 running Windows XP and the printer does not always see the user through the network, after a few mintues the printer will see the user and work fine.
3: User 3 has new PC with Windows 7.  Once the sofware is installed the user can scan once and then the connection is lost.  The user can print all day but the scanning connection does not work shortly after first use.

Can someone explain why we are always running into issues with these all-in-one printers ov er the network?  We had to replace our HP all-in-one last year because network scanning stopped completely after 6 months of use.  Reinstallation of software didn't help fix the problem.  Even scannign through the Windows Scanning feature stopped working as well.  I understand these smaller all-in-one's are nto really true push/pull netowrk devices, however they will work for some users just fine.  I hope someone can help as this is most annoying.  Thanks!

No but i can tell you i tell my clients to stay away from all in 1s for that reason. Unless they want to pay for hours and hours of time to figure out a windows compatibility problem. All the money they saved buying the all in 1 disappears fast sometimes during installation.Very expensive all in 1s are usually a different story. Get what you pay for here. They have been annoying for years and i see no difference in the newer ones except cheaper plastic.
Sorry couldn`t help. just had to get that off my chest
Good luck
