Hello,

If you have windows 2008, it must have IIS7 installed as it is component supplied with the Operating System. e.g. IIS 5.1 with XP, IIS 6.0 with Windows 2003 and IIS 7 with Windows 2008.

IIS 7.0 is not a separate component but supplied with Operation system as Role installation. You might not have installed required components of IIS 7.0 role from server manager.

Thanks,

This windows 2008 server is setup in a virtual environment and when I do a winver from the command line, it gives me Windows server 2008 Enterprise but it has IIS 6 loaded.  Confusing to me.

Hello,

It must be IIS 6.0 compatibility management tools not IIS 6.0 services. You can cross check from the role management -> features of IIS role.

Hello,

It should be only IIS 6.0 component manager. If you open IIS 6.0 manager and provide a screen shot i can assure you regarding the same.

Thanks,
