Which printer settings in XP SP3 would causeblackened prints when printing to network printer Ricoh MP 4001?

Hello Experts,

I have 2(user A and B) of 10 users(all on XP SP3 on an ethernet TCP/IP network and printer is networked and managed off of a server, PCL 5e) that have the same issue when they print a pdf, word doc, excel doc, they have a blackened streak at the top of their print or the whole page is black or there is always some kind of blackened distortion on their printed page.  Also if i have them print plain text from notepad, the printed page is normal with no distortions of black as long as it is plain text.

I had User A login to another user's machine that doesn't have any problems printing and when User A prints a pdf, docx, xls, etc... the prints are normal w/out any blackened distortions.  Also the user who has good functional printing has the same model of laptop that user A has.  Both are logged into the domain.

To fix this problem I've tried deleting and re-adding the printer on both troubled users machines.  I've tried reducing the DPI from 600 to 300 for the prints which did change the distortion from being an all blackened page to a print with just the top blackened and the lower portion had the correct info printed.

What settings could I check that would relate to this kind of issue in windows XP or better yet what should be my next step to resolving this issue?

Many Thanks Experts,

Ellsworth

Corrupted local driver install comes to mind. If you just deleted the printer, it didnt remove the drivers. Try deleting the printer, THEN deleting the drivers from the Server Properties>Drivers Tab...

Can the deleting of the drivers from the server properties>Drivers Tab... be done from the user's machine?  If so I need more details on how to but lamens terms please.

If this has to be done from the server; I currently don't have access to the server and the other users print fine so I assumed the server drivers were intact.  Is there a way to delete just one user's printer driver from the server?

Many Thanks JohnB6767

NP. Make sure you stop the spooler, and restart it once the printer is deleted, which will free up the drivers to be deleted.....

Delete the printers.

start>run>cmd>

net stop spooler
net start spooler

Then go to the Drivers Tab, and whack them....
