SQL backup/mainenance plan

I have recently installed and setup SQL Server 2008 r2 on windows Server 2008 R2 and moved a single database to the new server. I have set up a mainenance plan to backup the database each night. However, even though I have setup the maintenance plan and subplan, with the backup task, and scheduled it to run each night, nothing ever happens. I don't even get logs in the maintenance plan history.

    Accepted Solution

make sure the sql agent service is running.
When you use Sql server management studio, is the sql agent reflected as running?
If sql agent is stopped, the jobs do not run.

Man, I knew it was something small. I am testing it to run while I go to lunch if it runs you get the points!
