Windows 7 links not opening many times
I installed Windows 7 32bit and very dissappointed. This happens a lot in both internet explorer 8 and 9. I click on links in my favorites bar and it never goes to that webpage. It doesn't happen every time, but happens a lot. I had no problems like this in vista. Any ideas what is causing this?

This happens mostly with bookmark (favorites bar links). Not .exe files. These are regular links to websites. Sometimes they take me to the website other times they don't.
When it works it works fine, the same link on my booksmarks that worked 5 minutes ago could all of the sudden just think and think and think when clicked and not take me to the webpage. The proxy in interenet options is set to automatically detect settings, should I uncheck that?

Favorites bar items can be of several different file types--.exe, .com, html and so on. Do you see a difference between the results from one file type to the other?
Normally this behavior is caused by corrupt file type associations. I ask the above questions to see if we can narrow down the number of file type association(s) with problems. But it could also be use of a proxy or proxy settings.
"Sometimes" problems can be the most difficult to solve, but again, if you can narrow down the problem to one or more file type, the issue is easier to solve.
