Excess email spam solution?
I would like to know one thing.I am getting spam to my personal email account at my domain for the last 3 days.If I delete that mailbox ,say for a month or so and then reactivate will the spam rate stop.My email is not listed anywhere on the web even in advertisements or forms.
Will it work?I definitely need the email id back and for that I dont mind shutting it down for a month or so.I use Windows Live Mail as my hosting service.
At times I feel they are themselves encouraging spam,the reaon being that with Windows Live mail as hosting service I get around 25 spam mails per day.But when I temporarily shifted to another hosting provider for a day I got only a max of 5 mails,I tried this for two days and in both cases Windows Live Mail got more spam.
It may work for some but I would imagine not all as its just a blast basically. Look at getting a Spam filter in front. It's not that much mroe or I would imagine windows live has some iltering you can play with as well.

Spam machines are robots that do not pay attention to your use of a mailbox. Put your email address and spam will return.
To control spam, you need good spam filtering. Most (not all) ISP and web email systems offer spam filtering for you to configure.
If you are a company, you need to put in your own spam control or use hosted email that provides spam control.

Postini is $12 a year per user may not be a bad investment.

A substantial amount of the spam emails are from hotmail ids.
And why is it that when I shifted to the other hosting provider it is comparitively less.

The input of spam to my mail box started Exactly 2 weeks ago.Till then no issues at all.

Windows Live Mail is using Microsoft SmartScreen but the problem is they let in many.

Like I noted, spam robots just pour out the emails to wherever. Having your personal id at your own domain will not stop spam. ... Thinkpads_User
Spam should be stopped at Postini and you can double check the spam with Goodles interface if you need to

It can be low medium or high an still allow them all to come through but flag them to go to a spam folder. You can quarantine them or you can straight bounce them or black hole them. It is all in how you configure the service and there is a ton of options that have to be fine tuned to your needs. Buying the service through a 3rd party like I mentioned Excel Micro is they can help with some of the rules.

Ok I saw couple of options for Email Security like Safentrix(free),Postini Mcafee etc.Can you give me a final verdict which is the best and most efficient and which all provide free trial initially
