I'm a web designer who has used the Slider Gallery with JQ from tympanus.net/codrops for a lookbook on a fashion ecommerce site. The client loves it and wants it. However it is set up so that more than one gallery can be chosen on the page by clicking on a link. The page loads with a bg image and title and links to the galleries. But we want the gallery - only one per page - to load as sonn as the page loads - no links to make the gallery load.

I've asked the author for a solution, and MANY other people have asked as well, with no answer (they didn't even put my post on the page!). I contacted them directly and was told they were too busy to help me for at least a month and the client is frothing at the mouth to get it working.

Can some genius PLEASE help????!!!!!

The script/tutorial is here: http://tympanus.net/codrops/2010/10/07/slider-gallery/

My version (which is the same thing except for the css) is here: http://www.sveltesara.com/Articles.asp?ID=244 (please ignore the bg image if it is still there!!, the site is under construction)

As you can see, the link "Fall 2011" must be clicked to get the lookbook to load. We want the lookbook (the slider gallery) to be there when the page loads without having to click on anything.

Thank you SO much in advance for any help!

Perry
(ps - someone on the tympanus page seems to have tried to answer the question but it seems incomplete and/or, as a non-programmer, I don't have a clue what the answer means or how to implement it.)

Without looking (I'm on my phone) can't you do
$(doument).ready(function() {
  $("#linkid").click();
});

You might want to not squish .../images/lookbook/bgimg.jpg

Anyway. I found it

$('#fp_galleryList').find("u").click();

will click the fall

Hi and thank you so much for taking the time to help me. Unfortunately, as a designer, I know nothing about javascript so I'm not sure WHERE to put the line of code you came up with for me - I tried it in a couple of different places, but no go. I still had to click on the link to make the sliding gallery load instead of the galery just loading when the page loads.

Would you be kind enough to tell me where to put it? Maybe give me a couple of lines of existing code showing where to insert the new code? I really appreciate it.

Oh, and as I said in my post, ignore the squished image!!

Thank you!

Hi - and thank you so much - your solution DOES work - I could not find this anywhere:

<script type="text/javascript">
      var Config_Search_Auto_Complete = false;
</script>
but i put this at the bottom of the html page:

<script type="text/javascript">
      var Config_Search_Auto_Complete = false;

$(doument).ready(function() {
  $('#fp_galleryList').find("u").click();
});
</script>

and changed "doument" to "document" (apparently a typo?) and it works perfectly - thank you!

Yes it was a typo.

I added it to an existing script in your page, please do not duplicate the line from the existing script. (var Config_Search_Auto_Complete = false;)
Not that it matters now, but if you one day want to change that setting you would have to change it twice.

Just add

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function() {
  $('#fp_galleryList').find("u").click();
});
</script>
