HI i am trying to do a scan to email setup in our new canon copier. The exchange email server is not on the local network. What will i need to do to get the printer to send through that server. Its an exchange 2010 server, i have RPC/HTTP setup on the machine.  I am stumped as there is no documentation online for my model.

Thanks -

Even if the copier is not local, the following instructions will work for you:

http://blog.mpecsinc.ca/2009/09/sbs-2008-mfpcopier-to-scan-to-e-mail.html

Once you have the server configured, Companyweb configured for e-mail, and the Scans library up and running with an e-mail address such as scans@domain.com then the remote copiers can e-mail to that library or to the user's individual mailboxes.

For the remote copiers set up the SMTP outbound service to the ISP's SmartHost server (usually their smtp.ISP.com server). That will allow the e-mail to flow from the remote offices to the library.

HI MPEC Here is what i did to get it working

I skipped the sharepoint steps because we do not use sharepoint.

I configured the connector and used the external public IP of the address as the address for the printer.

Works great

Thanks

CBD, your Exchange is probably now an Open Relay.

Please test that configuration.

Have the copier e-mail through the ISP's SMTP server.

This eliminates the need for you to open relay like that.
