Use one SQL server to monitor another one

Does anyone know if it is possible to use one sql server to monitor another server and if that server goes offline run a job on the monitoring sql server to enable a local job?

Both servers are running SQL server 2005.

    Yes. Let's say ServerA needs to watch over ServerB.

    1) Create linked server on ServerA, that references ServerB
    2) Craete Job on ServerA that will
      Step1. Select anything from that server. If Step 1 fails  - goto step 2. If Step 1 succedes - quit job.
      Step2. enable local job you mentioned

    Just schedule the job - and here you go.
