asked on

How do I team a nic

I have a Hp Proliant DL380 G4 server and I recently formatted the box. I have installed most of the Hp System Management software and agents.

How can I team the NICS? Is there something I need to install?

Thanks,

You can only team NICs with NICs and drivers that support teaming - teaming provided redundancy - it does little to increase network throughput

Thanks.

I would like to team them for redundancy purposes but I can't seem to find the place to do so.

I have the drivers installed and most of the agents. I can see the nics in the hp system management console but I dont an option to team them.

I even have another dl380 with team nics that I am trying to use as reference but can't seem to figure it out.

Do I need to assign both the nics an IP before teaming them?

Thanks,

You do this in the NIC management software, not the system manager.  That will only confirm your nics have valid drivers and are present.
