Server two needs ro be a DC as well.  If DC 1 was to fail then you wouldn't be able to log on, because no DC available.  DNS needs to be AD integrated.  Is that what you have now?

Setting server 2 to be a domain controller will cause the DNS failover to be pretty much automatic.

Promote the server and install DNS at the same time.
Make sure its DNS integrated with AD, and It will replicate with AD

Make sure in your DHCP server you put the second server's IP address as secondary DNS as well.

i understood that

1.server2: AD+DNS should install   when i install AD what do i need to choose NEW DOMAIN STRUCTURE OR EXISTING JOIN?
2.where i need to install DHCP? on the server2?
Top Expert 2011
Commented:
1. choose an additional domain controller for an existing domain.
2. You've got two choices here.  You can have one instance of DHCP on DC1 but its a single point of failure.  You can also install it on DC2 and spit the scopes between DHCP servers.

AD need to be installed too on the server2?
DHCP server do i need  to the same ranges both servers?
Top Expert 2011
Commented:
Yes, install AD.  With DHCP you need to split the ranges,  say you have 1.1.1.1 - 1.1.1.254 /24. On DHCP 1 exclude 127-254.  On DHCP 2 exclude 1-126.

You need to have different ranges on servers.

Server1: 192.168.100.10-70
Server2: 192.68.100.71-125

DNS you aren't required but it is recommend to have two Domain Controllers.
