We have migrated to Office 2010 from Office 2000.  We had a lot of macros written in Word 2000. Is there a conversion utility that takes them from 2000 to 2010? An emulator?

In general macros will still work, with the specific exception of anything regarding toolbars.

Thanks.  I take it you have done this.  Is it not a different version of Visual Basic?

The VBA language itself is unchanged. There have been changes to the Word object model.

Toolbars have been replaced by the Ribbon, which cannot be modified directly in VBA. Content controls have been introduced. These are accessible with VBA, but some other things, such as Picture Styles are not.

It seems that Microsoft is expecting XML editing to be used for the new features in place of VBA.
